Liebherr has announced the launch of the massive MTC78000, a 78,000 tonne/metre offshore slewing crane. The company says that it has sold four of them so far.
The massive crane, which can handle 1,600 tonnes at up to 35 metres radius, is designed for mounting on large barges or similar vessels. The first two units will be mounted on jack-up barges for erecting offshore wind farms with turbines in the five megawatt class.
