Temporary lay-offs at Skyjack
According to late reports in the local newspaper in Skyjacks home town of Guelph, the company has temporarily laid-off 105 of its employees as a result, it says, of a slowdown in the U.S economy.
Both office and production employees working on the rough-terrain scissor lift line are affected according to the reports. The company’s scissor lift plant employs over 800.
Crystal Roberts, a spokesperson for Skyjack’s parent company, Linamar, is quoted as saying: “It’s just that one product line. They’ve slowed production on it resulting in these temporary layoffs,” She described the layoffs as “relatively temporary”
We understand the company is planning to bring some outsourced work back into the business in order to return to a full headcount.
