Bronto to retake title

Bronto, the Finnish based manufacturer of truck mounted lifts and fire fighting appliances, is working on a larger version of its 101 metre working height S101 HLA which will, when launched, retake the title of the world’s highest reaching aerial lift.

The new model will be based on the 101 and is expected to be very close to its overall length of just under 17 metres. The extra height comes from marginally extended each of the five sections of the lower boom and redesigning the jib with a bend in it to compensate for the slightly longer stowed boom.

The machine will retain the 2.55 metres overall width, and will be close to the 101’s total weight of 62 tonnes. Outreach will be unaffected at 28 metres, although this will now be available at a greater height – closer to 64 metres.

The new model is already sold and will go to work on wind turbine maintenance.
Bronto is not yet disclosing the identity of the buyer, the machine should be ready for shipment in mid 2009.
