Hiab scores in Iraq
Hiab has won a large order for of its loader cranes and cargo bodies from the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, for delivery in 2009. The General Directorate has ordered a complete load handling solution directly from Hiab, including a total of 95 XS 244 loader cranes and cargo bodies assembled on Iveco trucks. The total value of the order is worth over €16 million.
The equipment will be used for handling and carrying goods and supplies, such as electric wire, generators and transformers to assist in building the Iraqi electricity infrastructure.

Hiab 244XS
The Ministry of Electricity was established in 2003 and it is responsible for generating, transmitting and distribution of the electrical energy in Iraq. The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has estimated the country’s total need for electricity to be about 11,000 megawatts. With the current production volume being about 5,000 megawatts, Iraq is strongly developing its infrastructure to reach production target needed for self-sufficiency.
