Another push around

UK based ladder and scaffold tower manufacturer Youngman has launched a new push around scissor lift.

The new product, the Boss X3 has a maximum platform height of 8.4ft - 2.55 metres, giving a working height of up to 4.5 metres, making it comparable with the Pop-Up+ and Eazzi Lift Midi.

The Youngman Boss X3

The Boss X3 uses a husky box section scissor arm design with a single mid-stack mounted lift cylinder. The machine incorporates an overload cut-out, tilt alarm cut out and a platform descent interrupt switch set at 1.85 metres, similar to that found on most self propelled scissor lifts.

The new lift has a good sized platform at 565mm x 1050mm which takes just 12 seconds to reach full height, the battery powered lift has enough power in each charge to carry out 225 full lift cycles.

The X3 weighs 347kgs, slightly heavier than the Midi but lighter than the Pop-Up+ which also incorporates pull out outriggers and considerably heavier than the Power Tower which offers a sector topping 5.1 metre working height.

Vertikal Comment

This new unit looks like a handy product, although we have yet to see the full specification. With its apparent quality and 4.5 metres working height without the need for outriggers, it should prove to be a popular product.

The new product will go head to head with the new Eazzi Lift Midi, Pop-Up Plus and Power Tower, but Youngman’s advantage will be its connections to hundreds of rental companies that buy its alloy towers.

The next 12 months will be interesting ones in this market which has gone from one with a single supplier, to one that is now contested by three products with similar specifications. It will surely help expand the market, but which producer will come out on top?

Time will tell.
