More crane rides
Following all the fuss at Bauma over the company selling 'flights' from a tower crane, a reader has sent us a photo of a group of people riding a man-basket above the street crowds at this year’s annual
Wolkenkratzer Festival, held last week in Frankfurt, Germany.

We are not sure of who or what the people in the platform are doing, but it would have been safer in an aerial lift
We do not know if these were people being given or sold a ride, or if they were officials or a camera crew. What we do know though is that in the Frankfurt area there are plenty of large truck mounted lifts available for rent which are designed for this job. The crane in this case was a Tadano Faun rented by Kran Burgard.
Not really a Death Wish, but an example of how the guidance on people being lifted by cranes is ignored.

The issue here is that the crane is not necessarily man lift rated, for example it should have lock valves fitted to its hydraulic cylinders in case of a hydraulic pipe burst.

I see nothing wrong with this. As long as all the necessary safety procedures are kept in place (harness, bucket checks, etc.), the whole thing is perfectly fine.
Our company was offering free rides in the bucket as a promotion, during a recent public event in a local area.
