Compliance manager for GT Access

UK based rental company GTAccess has promoted Oliver Humphreys to compliance manager.

Humphreys joined the company in 2018 as a business administration apprentice after meeting GTAccess director Jo Till, who was visiting his school as a young enterprise business advisor. He moved into an accounts apprenticeship role in 2019, where he spent three years developing his financial and business skills. In 2022, he was promoted to accounts assistant before taking up his new position as compliance manager.

GTAccess said: "When a vacancy for compliance manager became available, Oliver expressed his interest and requested training to work towards the role. His dedication has paid off, as he has since completed his IOSH certification and is well on his way to finishing his NEBOSH qualification. With his enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and determination, Oliver is ready to take on this exciting new challenge. We have no doubt he’ll excel in his new role!”

Is it not about time that the following two changes are debated and considered for the Vertikal website:

1) Anyone wishing to comment only does so in the own name and not under a pseudonym or pen-name. This will discourage unnecessary behaviour.

2) The "thumbs" feature also has the anonymity removed allowing everyone to see who either liked or disliked the article, which would possibly make individuals think about their views ........ or, to remove this feature completely, as it it unnecessarily antagonistic and detracts from the quality of the post and subject.

Editor - why not just remove the thumbs down completely? I for one have stopped making comments because it annoys me that people give thumbs down, even for the most well meaning comments. As an example, I wanted to make a comment about your recent feature ‘Fallen Eagle’ to give the owners some words of encouragement. I didn’t because I knew that some people would give it a thumbs down.
I would hazard a guess that if thumbs down was removed, it might result in more people making comments.

I totally agree and will take away the thumbs down on this one, It is quite pathetic. Please if you have a view write a very short, polite comment.

.....
Baffles me that people have found a reason to 'thumbs down' a congratulations comment. Some people really have such a negative outlook on life.
