Alimak acquires Camac

Swedish/International mastclimber, hoist and lifting equipment manufacturer Alimak has acquired the trademarks, customer and supplier data, along with the product related know-how of Spanish mast climber and hoist manufacturer Camac – Minor Hoists.

Alimak says that the acquisition is relatively minor in terms of costs and implications and will have little financial implications or impact on its trading or results. As a result, it has yet to formally announce the transaction.
From the informal announcement we understand that Camac production facility is not included

The deal does bring some new products to the group including ladder hoists and a scaffolding hoist for light construction, which both lend themselves to solar panel installation as well as other light loads on small sites.

The company says that it plans to add dedicated sales representatives and distribution channels focused on the light equipment market, opening up a broader customer base. Other Camac products such as wire rope hoists and ladder hoists will be added to the Height Safety and Productivity Solutions catalogue.
It added: “We look forward to welcoming the representatives of Camac Minor Hoists into Alimak Group.”

Based Esparreguera, a few miles north west of Barcelona, Camac-Minor was established in the 1960s to manufacture concrete mixers and wire hoists. Over the years that followed it dropped the concrete mixers and focused on developing a wider range of wire rope hoists. In the 1990s it took the major step of entering the rack and pinion hoists and mast climber market and then began expanding overseas. In recent years it appeared to have pulled back from this expansionist strategy and has now sold the business assets.
