Crane over at UK power station
A 35 tonne Terex AC35 All Terrain crane overturned at Drax Power Station near Selby in North Yorkshire yesterday afternoon.

The overturned crane
The crane - owned and operated by steel erection company Cardiff Steel Erection - was working on an upgrade at the plant when, according to an eye witness, one of its outriggers punched through into a large void below.
A spokesperson for the power station confirmed that the incident had occured and that no one had been injured, but declined to comment further.

We are now in the days where all crane lifts need a lift plan method statement but this is not being adhered to crane companies and there customers are to blame wanting to do the jobs as cheap as possible decent sized rigger mats should be used on all lifts unless the ground is totally solid.
Crane manufacturers state cranes should be rigged on firm level ground and when cranes are tested they are tested on concrete!!!!!!

I've just remembered, wasn't there a guy killed on this job a few years ago when an excavator bucket fell off and struck him? from memory the driver was jailed! so much for 'tight safety'.

another one!!! Do I see short outrggers on the otherside of the crane? I hear theres a void under one outrigger which may have cvaused overturn but I wonder what way the ASLI was programmed?
