PB's for PAS

UK rental company Powered Access Services (PAS) has taken delivery of two 76ft PB S225-24DS Rough Terrain scissor lifts. The deal worth around £1 million is part of an investment by PAS to replace its ageing fleet of 11 Liftlux heavy duty scissor lifts. They are also the first machines of this type to be sold in the UK.

The PB 225-24D has a working height of 22.3 metres, an overall width of 2.47 metres and a maximum platform capacity of 750kg, including the 2.7 metre roll out extension which increases the overall length of the work platform to 7.2 metres. The unit is powered by Deutz and has an overall weight of just over 12 tonnes including standard auto-set levelling jacks, although it can be driven at full height on level ground.

National hire manager Mark Cadman said: "Our decision to buy PB equipment has been made easier since Alan Russon joined the PB team. PAS has, in the past, received great support from Alan’s team in particular Ian Day whom has helped us source difficult parts for our Liftlux fleet that were not made readily available and provided engineering and technical support to keep our Liftlux fleet fully operational."

Managing director David Cadman added: "The German engineering and the attention to detail on these machines makes them simple to operate and will provide us with the opportunity to offer for hire a great high quality product, to complement our growing fleet."

The PB product looks like a challenger to the big scissor lift market... Then again I've seen Barry has commented trying to sell his milk float again!

I will be intrigued to see how the PB units compare to the Holland Lift and the Airo units. This particular market sector, and machine specification, looks set to dominant in the UK for some time. I just hope the rental Companies can hold the rates for such an investment. We have managed to receive sustainable returns on most of our high value/niche kit. I just think we need to stand strong on this. Well done to the guys at PAS.
