LGMG opens in North America and faces JLG lawsuit

Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Lingong opened a new North American subsidiary for its LGMG aerial lift division last month.

The new business LGMG North America is based in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and has been established with the support of ex JLG president Craig Paylor, who also owns IMT/Jerr Dan dealer National Truck Body Solutions of Greencastle Pennsylvania.

He is supported by access industry veteran Rusty Kaylor who lists himself as a director of the new operation, while Dan Bishop of National Truck Body Solutions is operations director. The fourth member of the team is finance director Sean Goa.

The company has, we understand imported several hundred LGMG slab scissor lifts ready for immediate delivery following its opening. It made its first public appearance at the recent ARA Show in Anaheim, California. It has also opened a warehouse and service base in Ducktown, Tennessee – due east of Chattanooga.

The LGMG North America stand at the ARA Show

The company’s entrance into the North American market caused JLG to file a $2 million federal trademark infringement lawsuit against LGMG, its new North American division and its associates. The complaint, filed on February first, attacked the Chines manufacturer for using its famous orange and cream livery.

LGMG scissor lifts in the old 'JLG' colours at LGMG Europe earlier this year

A judge issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting LGMG selling any machines with JLG’s colour scheme. LGMG however immediately changed its colours to a single new reddish orange colour.

The motion was due to expire in late February but has been extended until the end of March in order to give defendants time to fully respond.
