Ramirent acquires Havator Access

International rental comapnyt Ramirent, has acquired the self propelled powered access business of fellow Finnish group Havator and signed a five year rental and cooperation agreement with the company, covering Finland, Sweden and Norway.

The acquisition does not include Havator’s truck-mounted aerial lift fleet which will remain alongside its mobile crane rental operation.

Ramirent says that the agreement strengthens its position within the
industrial sector and on large investment projects. The price of the acquisition
has not been disclosed.

The Havator Group includes crane rental, special transport, section assembly and harbour crane services. Its speciality is all inclusive project solutions in collaboration with specialist partners. The company has operations in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia and the Baltic States. Group revenues last year were around €80 million and it employs around 450.

Havator's managing director Jussi Yli-Niemi said:“This is an important co-operation agreement which brings strategic benefits to both parties. By selling our access platform rental business, we can focus on core operations and we can deepen our cooperation with Ramirent to develop efficient solutions for our customers.”

Kari Aulasmaa, senior vice president of Ramirent Europe East and Finland added: “Havator has established an excellent position in the marketplace and is able to
serve its customers throughout the logistics chain. We believe that, together we
can further strengthen our competitiveness particularly with industrial
customers in countries where both have operations. We are very happy to expand our cooperation with Havator.”

Vertikal Comment

This is probably a good move for both companies, it can be quite hard to mix smaller self propelled access equipment rental with the large crane rental and special projects.

This move will allow Rami to both expand its access fleet a little, while gaining a first class partner and customer in the form of Havator. The two companies also work across similar territory, although Havator might benefit from Rami’s operations in central Europe?

Havator will also benefit from being able to call on Rami’s much wider and more divers access fleet in all of its major markets. On the surface this looks like a win win deal.
