Locatelli under new ownership

We now have confirmation that the assets and on-going business of Italian crane manufacturer Locatelli have been sold.

The new company, Locatelli Crane SRL, is owned by the Plana Group, while Locatelli SpA – the old company - is still operational as a company and remains with the previous owners, although what it will do going forward is not yet clear.

It is possible that it will allowed to go dormant, and then be wound up, or used to enter another business. Locatelli was acquired from the Locatelli family in 2007 by Venpa 3 following discussions between CTE Venpa and Locatelli.

Information on the change in corporate structure is very sketchy and little is known about the Plana Group, although it is thought to be made up of a group of businessmen/investors in the Bergamo area, the home of Locatelli.

The 30 tonne Locatelli GRIL 8300T

Locatelli produces a range of Rough Terrain cranes which it sells largely in Italy, thye Middle East and South America. It has two City type All Terrain crane models, the smaller of which is an excellent unit, but has not yet had the success it deserves.

We also understand, that negotiations for Locatelli and discussions with at least one other closely associated Italian manufacturer have been going on with an American based lifting related company although this has not been confirmed.
