Telehandler cowboys

A reader in the UK witnessed some cavalier use of a telehandler to work on a roof in Wensleydale recently.

The men – and it looks like there were three of them, roared through the small town centre and lifted two of the men onto the roof of a hotel.

In the words of our reader: “While I was out and about in Wensleydale on Saturday I saw this telehandler come tearing through the streets coming to a stop on a slope, in a crowded town centre outside a B&B and unceremoniously dumping two men and a roof ladder onto the roof (they didn’t seem to use the roof ladder!) via the totally non-compliant man-basket. I don’t know if it quite qualifies as a death wish but it certainly got my attention!”

The telehandler at work one assumes that the driver is warning pedestrians not to walk underneath, lest they have a man fall on them?

The platform does not appear to have controls or any type of operational connection to the base machine, it lacks toeboards, and seemingly a front panel, but that may be folded into the platform?

On top of that the men are working on the roof without too much care to some of the risks they are exposing themselves to – So yes definitely a Death Wish.
