Ladders in San Diego

A regular reader in San Diego, California has been surprised by how many ladders are used locally and more particularly how dangerously they are.

With local tradesman clearly putting themselves at risk it is amazing there are not more serious falls and injuries.

In the two latest ones both users have climbed up to the very top rung, one, a painter to climb onto a balcony complete with large paint bucket and brush. The chances of the ladder slipping sideways during this manoeuvre is exceptionally high.

In the other one we are not sure what the man is doing but he is levering himself from one of the top rungs at around four storeys high. Again the chances of him falling are exceptionally high.

What it does show is that there are still plenty of tradesmen around who should be using powered access or other safer forms of working at height equipment. Even in the world’s most mature powered access market.

Both examples are clearly Death Wishes.
