220 tonne Liebherr for Emsley

UK based Emsley Crane Hire has taken delivery of a new 220 tonne Liebherr LTM 1220-5.2, the new crane is part of a €2.5 million package of four cranes bought by the company this year.

The others are a 55 tonne LTM 1055-3.2 and two 40 tonne two axle LTM 1040-2.1s. These additions take the Emsley fleet to 58, two thirds of which are from Liebherr.

The new crane went straight to work on a project at Warwick Hospital, lifting 44 prefabricated units into place on a new rapid build project.

The prefabricated units are bolted together and then clad in a brick covering and a false roof to blend in with the local architecture and to meet local planning regulations. This scheme saves significant build time and costs for the Hospital providing new office space in the grounds.

The new crane proved ideal as access to the site was restricted due to underground pipework and weak floors. The 60 metre main boom was able to reach all areas of the build.
