Hybrid RTGs for Turkish port
Kalmar has received an order for eight hybrid E-One 2 rubber-tyred gantry cranes from Turkish port operator Evyapport, with deliveries to be completed by 2015.
The 41 tonne capacity rubber-tyred gantry cranes have a one over six configuration and can stack up to seven-plus-one containers wide. Featuring the company’s electronic driver assistance system SmarRail, they will also run on mains electric power provided via a bus bar automatic arm.
Mika Virtanen, Kalmar vice-president, RTG and STS cranes, said: "As terminal operators gear up for higher container throughput the requirement for equipment to deliver improved efficiency and cost reduction becomes increasingly important. More operators are now specifying Kalmar's electrically powered RTGs because they significantly reduce fuel costs, when compared to diesel engines. The resulting zero emissions means they are a very environmentally-friendly option."
