JMS Managing Director Mark Jackson said: “The UK film industry is worth nearly £5 billion a year, and is growing. Film and TV production companies are big users of powered access, whether it be building sets, setting up lighting and sound systems of providing camera platforms. Therefore, Pinewood Studios is precisely the right place to have a permanent presence. We’re excited by the business opportunities this development will bring. The idea that our kit could be used on the Star Wars set adds a little excitement, but we won’t be getting starry-eyed.”

“Film and TV production companies need to know they can obtain precisely the right powered access equipment quickly and efficiently, from a company that fully understands their industry, and that’s the service we will deliver.”

JMS media specialist Tim Kendall added: “The fleet mix, locations and resources that JMS have are ideal for the media industry. Having a base at Pinewood, will put JMS at the forefront for all plant hire requirements on site, and can offer a one stop shop for lifting equipment and on-site health and safety training. Our team has more than 15 years’ experience in supplying the media industry, both at Pinewood and across the UK, so we can offer a professional service that delivers on its promises to suit any production.”

Pinewood is probably best known as the place where James Bond films are made, however, its studios have been used to create many more famous films and TV programmes in its 79-year history. It is also the home for more than 200 independent business that service the UK film industry. The studios are currently undergoing a 15-year £200 million expansion, doubling its size by increasing the number of sound stages from 16 to 28, adding 100,000 square metres of new facilities and creating an estimated 3,100 new jobs.
