New Liebherr for Herbold

German crane and access rental company Rolf Herbold has taken delivery of a new 70 tonne Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 four axle All Terrain crane, replacing a 14 year old 60 tonne LTM 1060/2.

The new crane boasts 50 metre main boom , and was ordered with the VarioBase, variable outrigger set up system, which allows each outrigger to be extended by an arbitrary distance, with the information then automatically fed into the Liccon controller which sets the appropriate load chart based on the actual configuration.

Ralf Herbold said: "This new system was a major reason for our purchase because it gives us more safety and flexibility in our crane operations. We can now tackle jobs which we simply were not equipped to do in the past. In particular over the jacks, where the VarioBase offers considerably more capacity".

Herbold collects its new Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2

Herbold also ordered the LTM 1070-4.2 with remote controls, in order to allow the crane operator to stand close to the load, to improve safety on complex lifts.

The Öhringen based company was founded in 1946 by Friedrich Herbold as a transport and bus business. Today it runs a fleet of seven mobile cranes, ranging from 30 to 120 tonnes – all of them Liebherr. The fleet includes an LTC 1045-3.1 city type All Terrain and several LTF truck-mounted cranes. The company also has a powered access division, with scissor lifts, articulated booms, truck mounted lifts and tracked platforms, as well as a few telehandlers. It also offers BGG 966 aerial lift training courses. It is managed by the second and third generations of the family.
