Liebherr unveils LTC 1045 successor

Liebherr unveiled an upgraded version of its city type All Terrain crane - the 50 tonne LTC 1050-3.1- at Intermat last week.

The original LTC 1045-3.1 was launched at Bauma in 2010, but needed a change of engine to met the latest emission regulations. It is now powered by a Tier 4 final/EU Stage IV which is heavier than the older unit, requiring some change in axle spacings etc… the company therefore took the opportunity to improve other aspects of the machine, including raising the maximum capacity to 50 tonnes.

The new crane features a six section 36 metre main boom and a 13 metre bi-fold swing-away extension with a short 1.5 metre jib integrated into it which can be offset by up to 60 degrees. The telescopic elevating crane cab can be raised to a height of 7.8 metres for improved visibility.

The new LTC 1050-3.1 shares almost identical dimensions as the original LTC 1045-3.1

Designed as a ‘taxi’ crane, it has a total weight of 36 tonnes with 12 tonne axle loads while carrying its full 6.5 tonnes of counterweight, bi-fold extension and hook block. Additional storage space for crane accessories and outrigger mats has also been added. Dimensions, including turning circle, remain the same. The new model features the company’s VarioBase outrigger set up, ECO mode and LICCON2 systems, while improvements on the boom have improved the load chart.
