First Tier 4 straddle carriers for US
New Jersey-based Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) – a joint venture between Ports America and Terminal Investment – has begun to take delivery of 20 straddle carriers from Terex Port Solutions.
The order for 12 NSC634E and eight NSC644E straddle carriers is the first in the US to comply with the requirements of EPA Tier 4 final emissions standards. Terex Port Solutions has also provided the port with a service technician from its facility in Würzburg for a period of two years. Scheduled for delivery by the end of July, the new diesel-electric straddle carriers will increase the total number of Terex machines at the port to 118.
Lutz Wächter, Terex Port Solutions Würzburg general manager, said: “With this delivery to our longstanding customer PNCT, who we have been supplying continuously since the year 2000, the number of Terex straddle carriers sold to the US and Europe complying with the EPA Tier 4 final (EU Stage IV) standard has reached a total of 86 machines. This makes us the supplier in the market with the greatest experience of this drive technology for straddle carriers.”
