Bsi Safe use of cranes draft
The latest draft revision of BS 7121 Part 1, Safe use of cranes – General has been published, is being circulated and is available for comment.
The General standard is largely used in the UK, although it is a reference point over a far wider geographic area. It is the foundation of good lifting practice on which specific drafts for each type of cranes builds. The draft revision has been sent out for public comment, we would recommend, if you are in the UK that you look through it and provide input and comment in order to influence, clarify or improve the content of the draft.
The draft can be viewed in our library along with the comment sheet which are best directed to the relevant association that you belong to, such as the CPA, ALLMI etc.. Tim Watson will collate all CPA comments and submit them to BSi. is e-mail address is
[email protected] Comments should reach him by Friday 7th August 2015.
Given the discussion and debate that was the subject of our last editorial and poll, - concerning which additional duties a crane operator can cover – i.e appointed person, crane operator, crane supervisor slinger, signaller – you may wish to check out page 27 which specifically covers this area.

I am not in UK but in Denmark working as crane operator. After a review from http://pimion.com I am doing my best to convince my company management considering the General standard.
