Mastclimber incident
A mastclimber partially collapsed on Monday on a site in the UK, thankfully no one was hurt in the incident.
We understand that two men were working on detailed cladding work on the façade of the new Faculty of Art, Design and Humanities building at De Montfort University in Leicester.
It seems that one end of the platform of a dual mast rig broke free from its mast causing that end of the platform to drop away from the building. The two men managed to hang on to the building.

Fortunately the two men working on the platform were unhurt
The main contractor on site is Balfour Beatty which released a statement saying: “We are investigating an incident on our De Montfort construction site on Monday afternoon. While no-one was hurt as a result of the incident, we are working closely with the HSE and are assisting them with their enquiries to learn the causes and plan appropriate action. The safety of the public and our workforce is always our primary concern.”
This is the second significant incident involving a fall at the site in just over two months, in June a man fell around 18 metres down a lift shaft and was seriously injured.
