First Grove for Sommer

German crane rental company Walsemann & Sommer has taken delivery of its first Grove All Terrain crane – a 400 tonne GMK6400.

The six-axle GMK6400 boasts a 60 metre main boom and 79 metre luffing jib and features a single engine to drive both carrier and superstructure through its 'MegaDrive' hydrostatic drive train. The unit has also been ordered with the company’s self-rigging MegaWingLift superlift attachment.

Walsemann & Sommer general manager Björn Sommer, said: “We are extremely impressed with the GMK6400 and its short rigging time and strong lifting capacity from the main boom and luffing jib, especially when fitted with the MegaWingLift capacity-enhancing attachment. And the price-performance ratio is excellent compared with others".

"Operators can also drive the GMK6400 at any time of day and on to virtually any job site as its design satisfies road permit laws across Europe, while its compact dimensions means it can work on projects more usually suited to five-axle mobile cranes.”
