New self-erector from Arcomet
Belgian tower crane specialist Arcomet has announced the introduction of a new self-erecting tower crane at Matexpo today.
The new machine, the A47 Eco City is based on the company’s A45 Eco City, but offers a 47 metre jib and a maximum capacity of six tonnes. Most importantly it only requires a 32 amp power source, rather than 63 amps. Other changes include structural alterations to help make the machine more versatile.
Marketing manager Gerd Vandecruys said: “We have noticed that our clients are finding it more difficult to get a 63 amp power supply from the network operator. We are addressing this problem with our new self-erecting crane. The A47 Eco City has an increased jib length of 47 metres, can handle a maximum load of 6000 kg and yet it operates at 32 amps”.

The company which is now managed by ex-Manitowoc executive Philippe Cohet, also says that it is back on track financially following a challenging period during the recession. It has sold off its French operation and is focussing all of its rental efforts on the Benelux region, Germany and the UK. Revenues in the past 12 months were in the region of €70 million, and the company now has 226 employees.
“Fresh capital, the sale of the division in France and a strategic refocus did turn the tide. We are now looking at our development plans towards a bright future. The combination of manufacturing and rental of tower cranes makes us unique in the market. We have engineers who know how cranes are designed, built, repaired and maintained. This reinforces the quality of our service, while staying competitive”, said Cohet.
“The latest figures show a double digit performance growth for 2015, we are clearly on the right track. Thanks to improved deployment of people and resources, we have managed to increase our efficiency. We are proud of our experience and skills. We leverage our assets and process knowledge to meet the increasing customer demands. Furthermore, we see great potential in markets where service level expectations are growing. We will invest in these areas to develop our group.”
