New LTM1300 for King
UK crane rental company King Lifting has taken delivery of a new 300 tonne Liebherr LTM1300-6.2 All Terrain crane.
The six axle crane went to work on the removal of a large tower crane in a confined area in the City of London for tower crane rental company Wolff HTC. In order to reach the tower crane, the LTM1300-6.2 needed to squeeze into a position on the junction of Fetter Lane and a service road, all wheel steer on the 12x8 chassis made this a simpler task. It was then rigged with its 78 metres of its seven section main boom plus an additional 14 metre fixed jib.

The new crane had to work in a very tight area and used it Variobase outrigger system to maintain maximum possible capacity
The new crane is equipped with Liebherr’s VarioBase system which automatically sets the load chart for the footprint selected. On this project, the rear outriggers were set at full width with the front nearside at 50 percent and the offside at 75 percent, which allowed footpaths to remain open, street furniture to stay in place and underground services to be avoided.

Nic Hutchinson, HTC’s operations manager said: “Partnering with King Lifting on the Fetter Lane job was a great opportunity to exploit the advantages of the VarioBase on the LTM1300-6.2. The manoeuvrability of the crane into this incredibly tight space was remarkable as can be seen from the photos. It really was the only crane that could be utilised with minimum disruption to an already tight and cordoned-off area. Amazing achievement!”
