City Lifting takes first GMK6400 in UK
London, UK, based crane rental company City Lifting has purchased the first 400 tonne, six axle Grove GMK6400 crane in the UK. It is the company’s second large Grove All Terrain crane and joins the 300 tonne GMK6300L added last year.
The single engine crane features Megadrive hydrostatic drive with Fuel Saver option. It has a 60 metre main boom with MegaWingLift cable boom guying system and 79 metre jib, but is also relatively compact with a choice of three outrigger positions, allowing the crane to set up where space is limited either on site or in the narrow streets within parts of London.

Chief executive Trevor Jepson said: “We are very pleased to have taken delivery of the UK’s first GMK6400 and look forward to using it to provide more efficient and flexible solutions for our customers. We researched similar machines from other manufacturers, but realised that the GMK6400 was the best and most reliable crane to meet our customers’ requirements.”
