Mammoet wins heavy lift contract for Sasol project
Mammoet has won a heavy lift and transport contract for the new Sasol ethane cracker and derivatives complex in Westlake, Louisiana.
The new $9 billion facility will is being built adjacent to the existing Sasol site near Westlake, and is one of the largest projects on the Gulf Coast. The new ethane cracker will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of ethylene, feeding six chemical manufacturing plants. The new facility is expected to be commissioned in 2018 and will triple production of the existing facility..
The contract awarded to Mammoet comprises all of the heavy lift and transport engineering, receiving modules and oversized equipment from local and overseas yards, transporting the cargo to site and all major lifting
work.
Mammoet has already provided assistance with the planning of the heavy lift and heavy transport aspects of the project.

This is the second big contract win for Mammoet in the state, it recently won contract for the Cameron liquefaction project in Hackberry, Louisiana.
