Leroy ‘Buddy’ Dieter 1958 - 2015

We have received the sad news of the premature death of Leroy ‘Buddy’ Dieter, vice president sales for Haulotte North America, aged 58.
He passed away last Friday, November 13th, at home with his wife by his side.

Dieter is a veteran of the aerial lift business, having joined Baltimore based Freestate Industries in the late 1970s as a service engineer having trained as a car mechanic, before moving on to fixing equipment. His responsibilities at the company and he moved up through the ranks in service management and then sales.

His next career moves included Modern Highlift and Chesapeake Highlift where he held increasingly important roles, before he and a close business partner started a new aerial lift rental company- Lift Inc. The successful business was eventually acquired by United Rentals in 1998. He stayed with the United and held several positions, including branch manager, district manager, and regional vice president.

Leroy ‘Buddy’ Dieter

He joined Haulotte in 2013 and played a major role in bringing stability and sales growth to the Haulotte operation in the USA, and was involved with the recent move of the sales and distribution headquarters to Virginia Beach.

Dieter was well respected in the aerial lift business by customers, co-workers, and competitors alike. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by wife Marybeth, children Nick, Joe, Christine, Lucas, Madison and Max, and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Landon.

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday afternoon, November 21st at 14:00. at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, Maryland 21222. Visitation begins at 13:00.
