40 years with Liebherr

German contractor Anton Schick has taken delivery of a new 160 tonne Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 five axle All Terrain crane, taking the company’s crane fleet to 30 units, and marking 40 years since it purchased its first Liebherr mobile crane.

The new crane replaces a 100 tonne Liebherr LTM 1100-5.2 and will be used to assemble prefabricated concrete components throughout Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The increased weight of the components led the company to go with a larger unit.

The new crane will also be used to erect the company’s tower cranes, so the new crane’s longer 62 metre main boom was also an advantage as was its Variobase outrigger system.

German contractor Anton Schick collects its new Liebherr LTM1160-5.2 All Terrain crane

Schick’s Liebherr fleet is topped out by a 2202 tonne LTM 1220-5.2 All Terrain for heavyweight assembly and erection work, and 25 tower cranes, 17 of them top slewers with load moments of 71 to 250 tonne/metres.

Company owner Anton Schick said: “Liebherr is the industry leader in technology, the LTM 1160-5.2 with VarioBase means that we have invested in the most modern crane in this class. Its high load moment and 62 metre telescopic boom makes it perfect for erecting our tower cranes. The crane has the ideal dimensions for this work. Since we bought our first Liebherr mobile crane around 40 years ago we have always been very satisfied with the machines. That is why we always go back to Liebherr when we buy a new crane.”
