The crane, a Liebherr owned by locally based Krandienst Lange was towing a two axle counterweight trailer, when it came off the B111 road on the edge of Pudagala, near the Polish border. The crane operator, 51, was unhurt, but unable to explain what had happened. According to the police there was no question that he had been drinking.

Lange sent in two recovery cranes last night which set up on the B111 and were able to place the stricken crane back on its wheels in a tandem lift. It is expected to be removed from the scene today, although getting heavy transport up off of the local service road could prove challenging.
