Aldercote/APS van mounts ready to go
APS has completed the redesign of the Aldercote van mounted lift range and released specifications of the new three line product range.
The range is made up of three different lines or series, a premium specification Performance line, a specific Utility contractors line and a keenly priced Contractor’s line.
All three feature a new tripod pedestal design located behind the van bulkhead to provide more storage or working space in the van. Two of the tripod’s legs incorporate independent, rotating stabilisers allowing the platform load to transfer through the column directly to the stabilisers reducing any stress on the vehicle’s chassis. The hydraulic tank and emergency lowering controls are now housed in the rear of the van, eliminating the need for climbing onto the roof.
The Performance series offers working heights from 13 to 18.4 metres, with what the company describes as an innovative boom design, allowing even the largest model in the series to be installed on a 5.2 tonne Iveco van. Features include automatic outreach optimisation, based on the load in the platform, 250kg maximum platform capacity and the option of remote fault diagnosis and access control / monitoring via modem.

The Utility series is targeted at the competitively priced street lighting market, with telescopic booms topped by articulated jibs with 110 degrees of articulation, helping provide good outreach at low levels. The light weight boom design allows a 13 metre platform to be mounted on a 3.5 tonne van with 300kg of payload remaining. The new turret design is said to increase storage room in the van for tools and equipment. The 13 metre model is available on a 3.5 tonne Ford Transit panel van and the 14 metre version on an Iveco Daily.

The Contractor Series is said to be an extremely competitively priced market-entry product, with direct hydraulic controls with simple, steel boom design.
APS will now take the new machines out on a UK road show, group managing director Steve Couling, said: “These are game-changing products that really raise the bar for van-mounted boom lifts.”
