Aerial police

The traffic police on Vancouver's North Shore were using a utility type work platform yesterday to provide an elevated position from which to look for drivers using mobile phones or other distractions while driving.

Unsuspecting motorists could have assumed that the man up in the lift was a utility worker, however he was calling in offenders to colleagues down on the street, who then pulled them over.

Police used the platform as a look out for drivers on mobile phones

The exercise was a joint initiative between the West Vancouver Police force and the North Vancouver Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Police say one in four deaths on British Columbia’s roads involves distracted driving, and that motorists are five times more likely to be involved in an accident if using a phone.
