A little more Bauma
As promised here are a few more photos from Bauma 2016, which add to our earlier coverage and new product announcements.
As with all of our photo tours, the aim is to show new products, highlight new companies in the sector and generally give those who did not manage to attend a flavour of the show. Bauma is of course way too large an exhibition to even cover all of the cranes and aerial lifts, not to mention telehandlers. But hopefully our coverage will at least provide an overview of the exhibition, both from the product side as well as the human side of things.

The view from the Vertikal stand on Saturday
Major new products launches were a little thin on the ground this year, in spite of the fact that there were more press conferences scheduled than ever before, with a large number of companies calling press conferences when they really did not have true breaking news to report. Hopefully this is not a trend that will continue as it takes valuable time away from reporting on the show itself. In addition to products on show this was also a chance to meet several new senior managers, including new chief executives at both Terex and Manitowoc in the form of John Garrison and Barry Pennypacker respectively.

We asked visitors to our stand what exhibits impressed them the most, they included Liebherr’s new 450 tonne LTM1450-8.1 All Terrain Crane, Teupen’s new 42 metre Puma which mounts a spider lift platform mechanism on the unique walking spider excavator chassis. The Potain Hup 32-27 self-erecting tower crane, Ruthmann’s 51 metre T510 on a two axle chassis, Palfinger’s new 75 metre P750 and the 70 metre Bronto S70XR on a short 32 tonne chassis.

Manitou’s new ultra compact 420 which one person dubbed a modern Buggyscopic. When visitors asked about specific machines, the new JLG1500AJP received some strong support, as did the 15 metre Hinowa spider lift and the new Magni telehandlers – including the 39 metre RTH 5.39S - 360 degree model
