New 8t Maeda for Hird

Hird, the Hull, UK-based mini, spider and pick & carry crane and glass lifting rental company has become the first company to purchase the new eight tonne capacity Maeda MC-815, launched last week at Bauma. The model is the largest Maeda spider crane it has produced to date.

The MC-815 can lift its maximum capacity at a radius of 2.4 metres and has a five section 19.4 metre main boom, with an optional two section 1,500kg capacity telescopic jib, which increases the maximum lifting height to 25.5 metres. An all new 1,000kg searcher hook is also available. Other features include a new joystick control replacing the standard four levers and a new 10.4-inch multi-function touch-screen monitor.

Hird managing director Phil Hird said: "We are delighted to be the first crane hire company to take delivery of what is going to be an industry-leading crane. The machine is perfectly suited to a range of tasks, including steel erection, glass and curtain wall installation, building maintenance and machinery moving.”

“We have purchased a large number of Maeda mini cranes in the last 12 months. They are the most popular mini crawler cranes in the world because they are the most capable and technologically advanced machines, and the MC-815 is no exception."

Alan Peck of Maeda distributor Kranlyft celebrating selling the first Maeda MC815 to Hird

Alan Peck, sales director of Kranlyt, the European master distributor for Maeda, added: "Hird is one of our most important UK customers, so we are very pleased that they have taken the first MC-815. We sold nine of the cranes off the stand at Bauma, and we expect this model to be our most popular Maeda crane in Europe in 2016. By all measures it is a major step forward in mini crane design, technology and capability.”

A new development with the MC815 is its new HBC Technos - a fully-remote radio telemetry system. While the MC-815 can be operated from a conventional seat on the crane, it can also be fully remote controlled. The crane can also be remotely self-levelled and automatically stowed. The bio-energy crane is fully EU Stage 3 compliant.

Comments

Hirds have consistently led the market in mini crane models, so its great to see them driving forward with this unit. They keep the hire rates consistent, and provide a first class service every time we have dealt with them. Great to see a good business, and good guys, doing well.
