350 tonner for Scholpp
German rental company Scholpp Kran & Transport has taken delivery of a new 350 tonne six-axle Liebherr LTM 1350-6.1 All Terrain crane.
The new crane, which replaces an older LTM 1350-6.1, has a 70 metre main boom and features Liebherr’s VarioBase outrigger set up system. It went straight to work on the Stuttgart 21 construction site near Stuttgart’s central station, where it helped install 20 waste pipes weighing 12 tonnes each, which had to be lifted to radii of between 15 and 42 metres, the LTM 1350-6.1 was rigged with 100 tonnes of counterweight for the job.

The unit is part of an order for six new Liebherr cranes, including one four axle 70 tonne LTM 1070-4.2, two 100 tonne four axle LTM 1100-4.2 and a 130 tonne five axle LTM 1130-5.1, plus two 60 tonne three axle LTM 1060-3.1 for delivery in June.
Scholpp, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, covers the Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, Böblingen and Ludwigshafen areas with a fleet of 50 mobile cranes up to 500 tonnes, plus mini and tower cranes. The company employs 120 and is currently putting 12 new crane operators through its in-house training department.
Operations director Stephan Burkhardt said: "The LTM 1350-6.1 is the perfect crane for us. Powerful and flexible with a 70 metre telescopic boom and Y Guying suspension system which is simple to assemble using the self-assembly process. The first customer for the new crane was desperate to have the machine, he even postponed the date of the job for a week to make sure he got it."

Managing director Martin Scholpp added: "We are so delighted with the LTM 1350-6.1 that we have bought the same model again, but now with new technology, such as VarioBase and an engine with Stage 4 emissions. We will not buy anything else. VarioBase is the greatest innovation in mobile crane safety technology in recent years."
