Liebherr consolidates in USA

Liebherr is bringing togethermost of its business in the USA under a single corporation- Liebherr USA, Company – in order to create a simpler structure and encourage a closer working relationship between the divisions.

Liebherr began doing business the United States 1970 when it built its manufacturing plant and North American headquarters in Newport News, Virginia. Over the years each Liebherr company has opened and registered its own operations to meet customer needs across different industries.

These existing sales and service companies will now become divisions of new company. They include: Tower Cranes, Refrigerators, Liebherr Components, Concrete Technology, Construction Equipment, Marine and port handling, and mobile/crawler Cranes- including duty cycle cranes from Nenzing.

The US Aerospace, Gear Technology, Automation Systems and Mining Equipment companies will not be part of the move, although the new company will be responsible for the sales and service of mining equipment in North America.

In practical terms, all points of contact and business relationships will remain the same, as will all existing contracts, programmes and agreements. The company will have three managing directors, Torben Reher, Daniel Pitzer who heads up the mobile and crawler crane division and Peter Mayr for construction equipment. The changes came into effect yesterday.
