Liebherr reachstacker for Antwerp

Belgian port operator and logistics specialist Katoen Natie has taken delivery of a Liebherr LRS 545 reachstacker.

The LRS 545 is the latest reachstacker in Liebherr’s range and is part of a programme to boost the container throughput at the company’s intermodal terminal in Antwerp and will work alongside a number of Liebherr mobile harbour cranes including two LHM 600 delivered last year with Liebherr’s Sycratronic tandem lift system, that allows one crane operator to lift loads of up to 416 tonnes using two cranes in tandem.

The Liebherr LRS545 can stack 45 tonne loaded containers five high

The LRS 545 is equipped with a smaller four cylinder stage IV and tier 4 final Liebherr diesel, that is said to offer lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions, thanks to an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system, which reduces emissions without a sacrificing performance. The machine can stack 45 tonne containers up to five high in the first row and 21 tonnes up to four high in the third row. A new cab features a large curved windscreen that includes the side windows without any pillar, providing a panoramic forward view for the driver.
