Three 160 tonners for Franz Bracht
German crane rental company Franz Bracht Kranvermietung has taken delivery of its third new Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 in six months.
The five axle LTM 1160-5.2 features a 62 metre main boom and can reach a tip heights of up to 99 metres and up to 78 metres with its lattice extensions. The crane also features the new VarioBallast counterweight system, which offers two different tailswings - 5.23 or 4.73 metres for maximum capacity or compact dimensions..
Current owner Dirk Bracht said: The three new LTM 1160-5.2 cranes will expand our fleet and are stationed at Erwitte, Duisburg and Paderborn. We operate many cranes in the class between 130 and 160 tonnes in wind farms. Over the last few months demand has risen in this industry and additional cranes were needed to meet this demand. This led to the decision to buy three new 160 tonne machines. Cranes with maximum flexibility are always important for routine work.
The VarioBase outrigger base from Liebherr delivers this flexibility to a tee. It also significantly enhances safety levels."
One of the first crane jobs for the third LTM 1160-5.2 was unloading a new timber saw in Warstein-Hirschberg (Sauerland). The eight tonne saw had to be lifted at a radius of 31 metres. The crane was rigged with 34 tonnes of counterweight and the boom extended to 40 metres.
