New director for Ashtead

Ashtead, owner of Sunbelt in the USA and A-Plant in the UK has announced the appointment of Tanya Fratto as a non-executive director.

Fratto is also a non-executive director of Smiths group, Advanced Drainage Systems, and Boart Longyear and will officially join the Ashtead board on Monday.

Having grown up in Alabama, she began her career in 1983 with General Electric, joining its manufacturing management programme. She remained with the company for 17 years, moving through increasing senior roles, with GE Plastics, GE Consumers Services, GE Appliances, ending up as general manager of GE Consumer Services.

In 2000 she left to join Sandvik’s Diamond Innovations as chief executive, departing in 2011 to join the board of the Committee of 200, a not for profit organisation which promotes women’s roles in business leadership. At the same time she was appointed as a non-executive director of Boart Longyear, a drilling specialist in the mining and metals industries. Further non executive roles have followed.
