New safety director at Severfield
UK steel construction company Severfield has appointed Phillipa Recchia as group health safety and environmental director.
Recchia joins the company from housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat, where she has spent the past two years as southern health, safety, environmental and quality director. She also spent almost five years as corporate head of health and safety at specialist access and industrial services provider Kaefer and before that worked with its C&D group operations.

Severfield chief executive Ian Lawson said: “We have implemented behavioural safety training across our entire business, reinforcing best practice for all our people. Phillipa’s expertise in this area will ensure that we continue to take this good work forward.”
Recchia added: “I am delighted to be joining the company and will be working closely with each location to embed the training already carried out and further determine the strategic direction Severfield takes for health and safety.”
Severfield is a major user of both cranes and access equipment and has been highly innovative in the way it has worked with manufacturers to develop new solutions to working at height in difficult applications such as high rise steel erection. It was instrumental in developing the Niftylift Deck Rider boom lifts.
