Loxam France joins IPAF

French international rental company Loxam and its 11 subsidiaries has joined the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). Loxam UK, Ireland and the Netherlands have been active members of IPAF for many years.

The membership agreement was signed by Alice Henault, director of the Loxam Access division, and IPAF’s Tim Whiteman at the recent European Rental Association’s annual convention in Stockholm.

Henault said: “We see that IPAF is really helping the business in the UK and other countries where we are members. Now is the time to be an IPAF member in France. Safety is a challenge, and it is part of our job to promote safety. We have to work with IPAF to find the best way to promote safety.”

Whiteman added: “We welcome the Loxam group’s commitment to sharing experience and information from its operations around Europe within the IPAF community. Together we can help improve safety around the world.”

Vertikal Comment

This is a very positive development for IPAF, France is one of the few European countries where it has failed to make any inroads. Some of this is due to the strength of the DLR rental association, but also as a result of a well- developed state training system, which takes away one of IPAF’s strongest appeals to new members – the ability to offer IPAF training courses and the internationally recognised PAL card operator licence.

IPAF will be hoping that other companies in France will follow Loxam’s lead and join up, giving the association a local base from which to provide services, while giving the members their own vehicle from which to influence government decisions and shape improvements in work at height safety and training.
