An Almac dealer for Ireland
Italian tracked scissor lift producer Almac has appointed Access Platform Sales, a division of Aerial Platform Hire - as its distributor for Ireland.
The two parties began talking seriously about cover the Irish market during Bauma in April, during which Aerial Platform Hire purchased two units of the Kubota powered Bibi 870-BL EVO for its rental fleet. At the time chief executive Nicholas Davin said he was looking to test the market to see if there would be significant demand for the special scissor lifts - which can automatically level on side slopes of up to 20 degrees, and 16 degrees end to end – especially given their hefty cost premium, compared to slab scissor lifts of a similar height.

The trial has obviously worked well, leading to the distribution agreement which, includes both Northern Ireland and the Republic, became effective this month. The Eco version can level while on the move and wider platform has also extended the potential for the lifts, which worldwide are proving to be far more popular than many expected.

Aerial Platform Hire and the Davins were pioneers of the European self-propelled market, buying some of the first JLG boom lifts to arrive for a project at Harland and Wolf. It became an early JLG distributor and is one of the longest serving JLG distributors in the world.
Almac is a new manufacturer, having only entered the wider access market in 2014. Since then it has gone on to win several awards for innovation and already has a good number of distributors on four continents.
