Fatal tower crane incident
A tower crane collapsed yesterday in the town of Béjaïa on the north coast of Algeria killing one man and seriously injuring the operator. Two other men received more minor injuries.
The local police report says that the crane was 32 metres high and equipped with a 55 metre jib, and that it had been inspected in the past week or so. The man who died was 53, while the crane operator, 22, was taken to hospital and is reported to be in a critical condition.
