Sparrows/ SapuraKencana partner

Offshore crane and lifting specialist Sparrows Offshore Services and SapuraKencana Technology are forming a partnership in Malaysia to provide offshore and onshore crane services.

SapuraKencana Technology is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad, Sparrows Offshore Services of Singapore is a wholly owned division of UK based Sparrows Group. The two companies will collaborate to provide a wide range of services to the sector, including manufacturing, supply, operations, maintenance and overhaul of offshore and onshore cranes for the oil and gas industry in Malaysia.

SapuraKencana’s fabrication yard at Lumut

Sparrows is currently working with a number of drilling firms in Malaysia but says that the new alliance will see its activity with operators in the country grow significantly. Chief executive Stewart Mitchell said: “SapuraKencana Petroleum is a prominent and well respected company and this partnership is right in many regards for us. It brings together two companies that have a reputation for delivering quality to the energy sector and SapuraKencana’s commitment to excellence is in line with our own values”.
