Leguan's biggest spider

Finnish aerial lift manufacturer Leguan has launched a new 26.5 metre spider lift - the Leguan 265 - its largest lift to date.

The new model joins the company’s All Terrain series along with the 19.5 metre 195 and the 22.5 metre 225. All feature a unified design with identical user interface and standardised components making it easier for operators to switch between models, as well as simplifying maintenance and servicing.
The launch of the Leguan 265 was live streamed around the world

The new lift has a dual sigma type riser with a short lower arm and long upper arm, topped by a three section boom and long jib with 120 degrees of articulation, providing a maximum outreach of 13.6 metres at an up & over height of 10 metres and a platform capacity of 120kg and almost 11 metres outreach with the maximum capacity of 250kg.
The 265 has a 26.5 metre working height and 13.6 metre maximum outreach. Large spider leg pads are standard

The 1.3 metre by 750mm platform has a 110 degrees of rotation, while the slew is 440 degrees. Overall transport dimensions with platform in place are 6.88 metres long by 1.33 metres wide by 2.28 metres high reduced to 6.24 metres long and 1.25 metres wide without the basket.
The machine is aimed at outdoor users such as arborists and utility companies etc. Total weight is 3,920kg with power supplied by a 21hp Kubota diesel or 230V/2.2kW electric system.

The 1.25 metre wide track system is designed and manufactured in house, to provide more than 200mm of ground clearance as well as a low centre of gravity which, along with the overall width makes for a really stable machine on uneven ground, aided by 45 percent gradeability. Maximum drive speed is 3.1kph and maximum slope for setting up on outriggers is 23 percent.

As with other models in Leguan’s All Terrain range, the 265 features a protected boom structure with all hoses, sensors, wiring internally routed, while all other critical components including the outrigger cylinders and automatic levelling system are fully protected. A feature is the Home Function which returns the booms to the transport position in 90 seconds. This is also compatible with the battery operated backup emergency lowering system.

Marketing manager Juuso Valtakari said: “What sets the Leguan 265 apart from its competition is its driving performance combined with market leading setup and boom speeds. Operators can start work immediately without any manual pre-operation tasks such as adjusting the outriggers, widening tracks or lifting the jib boom - just step onto the platform, attach the safety harness and start working.”

“It is also the fastest spider lift in its class - between two and four times faster than other lifts - taking just 95 seconds to fully extend the booms to maximum working height. This is a result of the Leguan EDX (Efficiency-Driven Experience) operating system with advanced electronic valve technology which allows the operator to use multiple boom movements simultaneously with maximum hydraulic efficiency.”

The first machine has been sold to Martin Gotz of Gotz Baumflege in Friedberg, Germany. The first contract for the machine is maintenance work on 2,000 trees in a local park.
