(L-R) Goscor Access’ George Landsberg with Sharbel Kordahi of Genie and Neil Wilson of Goscor, having placed a million order during Genie's 50th Anniversary celebrations

Earlier this year Goscor’s ultimate owner since 2011 – publicly quoted Imperial Holdings – sold its share in the Goscor group to its management team, supported by two minority shareholders - private equity firms Khulasande Capital Partnership and Unispan Holdings. The deal was worth R1.03 billion ($75 million) including the discharge of shareholder loans of R730 million (53 million). With the new shareholders all on board now, the speed of expansion is expected to increase.

The company was represented at the Genie event by George Landsberg of Goscor Access and Goscor group chief executive Neil Wilson. Landsberg said: “We wanted to re-affirm our trust in Genie as a supplier and are very excited about the new products that have been showcased during this trip. We expect to take even more of these machines during 2017, including the new SX-135XC. The new machines will be used on a variety of distribution centre and shopping mall projects in locations around Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban as well as solar power projects in the Northern Cape province. Some units are also earmarked for petrochemical refineries in South Africa.”

Wilson added: “The new shareholders are committed to the group’s growth in the access industry and I have been very impressed with the new higher capacity innovations that Genie has been adding to their products, especially with the remarkable outreach and lifting envelope on the new SX-135XC. Goscor is currently busy increasing our branch network in South Africa and also looking at neighbouring countries such as Namibia, Mozambique and Mauritius.”
