Tower crane weather vane alert
With Hurricane Mathew heading for the Bahamas and East Coast USA we have been asked to issue a reminder to check that tower cranes that might be caught in the path, or after effects of the hurricane are free to weather vane.
The storm which saw winds of over 140 miles an hour in Haiti, is due to hit Florida's east coast on Friday morning, before heading into the Carolinas. But the whole east coast all the way up to Canada could be hit by strong gale force winds.
Reader Terry McGettigan of Tower Crane Support has written previous bulletins and advice on the subject on the importance of checking that tower cranes are free to ‘weather vane properly.

Let’s hope that the storms pass without incident and that the whole thing turns out to be a false alarm, in the meantime preparing for events like this can always prove useful as a practice drill.
Good luck
