At the same time shipbuilder Jurong Shipward has ordered a 100 tonne/metre pedestal mounted offshore crane, which will be installed on board Dutch offshore oil and gas contractor Heerema’s new semi-submersible crane vessel Sleipnir. The crane will function as an auxiliary crane for the two 10,000 tonne/metre Huisman tub cranes onboard. Both cranes will be built at Huisman China, with the deliveries planned for March and April 2018.
Huisman chief executive Joop Roodenburg said: “We truly cherish these new collaborations and we are grateful for the trust of our clients. The PMOC completes the set of cranes we are delivering for the Sleipnir and represents our wide range of cranes. As to the pedestal mounted crane, after delivering the 1,500 tonne/metre Leg Encircling Crane for the Seajacks Scylla in late 2015, we secured a number of prestigious wind turbine installation crane orders, including a 1,600 tonne/metre Leg Encircling Crane and a 3,000 tonne/metre Offshore Mast Crane. We consider the this latest order as the icing on the cake and the first step in the development of our market share in Japan."
