Reid Lifting acquires French distributor

Welsh lifting equipment manufacturer Reid Lifting has acquired its French distributor Reid Lifting France, its first acquisition following new funding and banking facilities from Santander in February.

Based in Chepstow, south Wales, Reid was established in 1996 and specialises in lightweight portable lifting equipment and access solutions, including material lifts, mobile gantry cranes, davits and personnel lower units for temporary underground work. The company serves the water, utilities, construction and manufacturing sectors from its base in Wales, along with subsidiaries in Minnesota USA, and now in Saint-Nolff, France. It was acquired by Pure Lifting in 2019

Reid Lifting France was set up in 1999 by Karena Buckingham, and was Reid's first distributor. The combined business will employ around 80 people.

Reid Lifting managing director Simon Luke said: "This acquisition allows us to assemble a highly experienced team, strengthen our presence in Europe and better coordinate the brand's development efforts on an international scale."
